Danish Gymnastics in its actual form was strongly inspired by Swedish gymnastics from XIX century. Through the years, it has found its own unique expression in Denmark. A series of practices and principles were built progressively, influenced by great visionaries such as Niels Bukh.

In Denmark, people join clubs that practice once or twice a week. During the spring time (mainly), there is period where clubs and teams gather together to make and watch performances or shows. The season often ends with a great performance at the local gym. The main goal is the sense of community, partnership and to share together, where gymnastics is the common interest.

Gymnastics is practice by people of all ages, from very young small kids to elderly people. More many Danes, this is their lifestyle.
